Barry Townsend is the founder and creative director of Townsend™
With more than twenty-nine years of experience in brand strategy, brand identity, advertising, interactive and packaging design, Barry has created award-winning design work for some of the most recognizable brands in the world, including 3M, Best Buy, Kohls, Nestlé Purina, Motorola, Sears and Target.
Barry is a native of Florence, SC, where he now resides, but his education and career has taken him to Columbia, SC—where he earned his degree in design from the University of South Carolina—and from there to Minneapolis, MN. He has worked as design director at some of the nation's leading branding agencies—including Colle+McVoy and Design Guys—and worked with two of the most respected firms in the industry—Duffy and Fallon—while serving as corporate brand manager for an international software company.
Barry's work has been featured in international publications such as Applied Arts, Brand New, Communication Arts, HOW and Print magazine. His work has been recognized for design excellence by the American Institute of Graphic Arts, the AR100, Art Director's Club, The One Show and Type Director's Club, among others.
